Where Are Your Business’s Fire Extinguishers?

9/30/2020 (Permalink)

When you own a business, there are many safety measures that you need to consider. There are first aid kits and sprinklers that you need to have in place. One of the most important things you can do is have fire extinguishers ready and available for people to use when needed. There is a general method that is used for the placement of fire extinguishers.

Fire extinguishers are located where they can be readily accessible and available. If there is a fire, it should be obvious where the extinguishers are. This means they should be located along normal paths of travel, including exits from areas. They should also be installed at a height that is accessible for nearly anyone who might need to grab them (never more than five feet above the floor).

When extinguishers are easily accessible, it is easier to limit the amount of damage you experience from fire and smoke. It can also reduce the number of injuries that come from larger fires. So follow the guidelines and check in with the NFPA to see what their recommendations are.
