What is a Board Up?
You’ve probably seen us post on social media about our building services. When we do, we mention the term“board-ups” quite a bit. What are board-ups though, and why are they important? Simply put, they are sometimes the best line of defense between your property and secondary damage.
When damage occurs in or on your property, sometimes walls, roofs, ceilings, and windows can be damaged and leave the inside of your home exposed to the elements. Storm damage and fire damage are often the cause of these openings. We see trees and other debris crash in during storms, and we are called to many jobs where fires have burned holes in the structure of customers’ homes. Of course, when we are called to jobs like these, our first step is to make sure that any openings are covered, either by tarps or by placing a wood barrier to block everything. When we can stop rain, wind, and other debris from entering into the openings left by initial damage, it helps to keep the cleaning and restoration process on track as well as preventing problems like mold from developing.
So when you see a post in our website photo gallery from a board-up job, or if you see us posting on our social platforms about board-ups and our other building services, now you’ll have a better understanding of what we’re sharing!
