Cleaning In Schools

7/15/2021 (Permalink)

We know that summer months are a weird time to talk about cleaning in schools. Kids are generally off the campus, and there are not many staff around either unless of course summer school is in session. So why would we bring it up now?

Simple: damage doesn’t always wait for the school year to start.

Consider the following:

  • Storm damage can happen any time of year. If a school has a tree go through the roof or a leak that floods out a classroom after heavy rain, it’s not damage that can wait to be fixed.
  • Water damage from sewage backups and other plumbing issues can happen year-round as well. That’s definitely not something you want to wait all summer to get cleaned up.
  • Electrical fires can also be unpredictable, and cleaning and restoring the damage from that should be done in a timely manner.
  • It may be summer, but if the school in question offers summer school then there will be people on the premises at least some of the time. While the pandemic is not as prevalent and many people are getting vaccinated, it is still possible for people to expose others to the virus or become exposed to the virus. If that is the case, the person in charge of the facility should definitely take measures to disinfect the building to avoid further exposure.

The good news is that all of these problems can be handled by your local SERVPRO®; everything from cleaning and restoring storm damage to applying disinfectant to the property to avoid COVID-19 exposure. Just know that we are Here to Help® all year long!
