Drying the Cement Under the Carpet

It might seem like a silly thing to do for someone to pull up the carpet in a basement to make sure that the cement underneath it was dry. We can assure you that this is not the case.

Say that the person had dried the carpet as thoroughly as they could without pulling it up to see if there was water pooling underneath it. If water was left unnoticed under the carpet, the reality is that mold could have started to form. That would have spread, and then not only would they be dealing with mold on the cement, but there would be mold in the carpet. Next thing you know, there are spores in the air and people start to get sick. That is why something as simple as drying out under the carpet is a good idea. It prevents secondary damage from causing even more problems.
